Tell me
When they came for your head
and your hands, Cicero
did you give a speech about dread?
About how how a solitary hero
Could not save his beloved city
ex ferro et igni?

Author's Notes: Cicero was a Roman orator around the time of the end of the Republican Era in Roman History. He was eventually executed under orders from Mark Antony, who was the target of some of Cicero's speeches, and had his head and hands nailed up on the Rostra, in the middle of the Forum. "Ex ferro et igni" is a phrase Cicero used in a famous speech, where he talked about saving Rome "from fire and iron", i.e. revolution.
