Whatever happened to the Wandering Jew?
Made to walk this world blue,
until such time as He returned true,
is he me or is he you?

Once I thought I had beheld the man
as he wandered all over the land
back bent and bowed and will wan
did he see the necessary plan?

I hope someday he'll be able to rest
having passed the Judgment test
and spend eternity with the blessed
with the long walk over, his long long quest.

Author's Notes: The Wandering Jew is a medieval tale about a man who, because he mocked Jesus as Jesus was carrying the cross, was told that he would remain on Earth until Jesus returned. I don't see this myth used very often in literature, though that may just be me. It's used very well in "A Canticle for Leibowitz", though.
